The National Retail Federation (NRF) has reported that Mother's Day gift spending has reached $23 billion in recent years. Approximately 10% of that spending is on gardening tools and accessories, and housewares and decor. How can you capture a piece of that pie?

Order Early

Purchase items specifically geared toward moms and Mother's Day. Garden accessories, garden stakes, pots and planters, kitchen accessories, and home decor have tons of gift potential. Making sure you have your items in-stock before the gift shopping begins is important. We suggest ordering early to mid-February for Mother's day.

Prepare Your Shop

If you have a retail location, be sure to place some of your Mother's Day gift ideas near the entrance and strategically place other items throughout the store. Create and display catchy, visible signage to direct customers around your shop. Place less expensive, impulse items, at the register for add-on sales. If you sell your products online, make sure you feature Mother's Day gifts on your homepage.

Dust off your contact list and start creating your Mother's Day marketing campaign. Approximately, 84% of U.S. adults will be out shopping for mom this year.

If you have customers registered to receive your e-newsletter, develop some compelling marketing emails. If you don't have an email list, design a nice postcard to mail out to your customers. Plan ahead for slower delivery time with the postal service. In your marketing, remind your customers when Mother's Day is and maybe offer an incentive like a percent off a single purchase.
